Chillin' at the bus stop....
This guy is chilling at the bus stop in Andrés Castro barrio, Managua. He seems to be a street vendor and I guess he brought his own chair...that's the way to do it!
Donuts for sale
Say hi to Estrella, a friendly doughnut vender in the Andrés Castro barrio in Managua. She has pretty strong vocal cords, as you will note in the following video.
By the way, doughnuts cost C$5 a piece (5 for a buck at current rates).

The original Pellizco Whirlpool
I originally took this picture in April 2007 in El Pellizco, zona near Chichigalpa, Nicaragua. Since then I have seen it circulate and take on identification from many other areas of the world. My bad for not watermarking in the moment. However, here it is, updated with the original owner's mark. THIS IS NICARAGUA, OK?
Summer is here...it's hot and these kids really know how to take care of things!!!

NICARAGUA - This Central American country values its natural beauty, with a very low ecological footprint score. Adventurous travelers are starting to take note, too. Locals are excited to see tourism grow rapidly here, with increasing interest in their country's eco-tourism, surfing and "off-the-beaten path" vibe. And it might surprise you, but this country is one of the safest in Central America -- that's something for locals to feel good about, too.

Traffic light entertainment in Managua
As you travel through Managua, you will find all kinds of activity at the traffic lights. Not all is always agreeable. Having said that, I must admit that there are some very talented people in Nicaragua who show their skills in exchange for an occasional voluntary tip (I wish it was more than occasional for many of these - they really deserve it). This young man works the traffic lights at Auto-Lote El Chele (between Cristo Rey and Altamira). Check him out!

Chilling in the 'pic-sina'
These kids, from San Isidro, Managua, Nicaragua, got a head start on summer time, chilling in their pool, locally known as a 'pic-sina'. Too bad they didn't have a Pec-si and a slice of pic-za to make the chilling complete!

Hard Friday night...¡Clase de noche del viernes!
This guy wanted to get up and work Saturday morning in El Chilamate (between Masaya and Granada), Nicaragua but just couldn't get it together. I passed him early and he had a machete. When I came by the second time, his machete was gone and he was even "gonner"....

New ...doo in Nicaragua
This Nicaraguan lad is not that far behind fashion...or better said: "Fashion has made it to Granada, Nicaragua". It's interesting what a little water and imagination can do.
No está tan fuera de moda este chavalo...o mejor dicho: "La moda ha llegado a Granada, Nicaragua." Que bueno lo que se puede hacer con agua y una buena imaginacion.

Little chair <...> silla pequeña
As I was wondering through the backwoods of Los Cerros, Rivas (near the Nicaragua tourism area known as Tola), I saw this little wooden chair, typically called a 'grandmother' chair here in Nicaragua. This one was special though cause it was not 'grandmother' size but rather granddaughter size.
