Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut tiene una oferta "Almuerzos 2 de 4" que consiste en elegir entre una variedad de ensaladas, pastas, entradas y postres por un precio fijo: $4.50 (no incluye bebidas).  Hay varios Pizza Hut en Managua, Nicaragua: Metrocentro (frente al catedral), Metrocentro (food court), Plaza Inter (food court), Bello Horizonte, El Guanacaste (contiguo a la Texaco) y Villa Fontana.  Aquí estuvimos en el restaurante de Metrocentro, 100 vrs. norte de la rotonda. 

Pizza Hut has an offer "Almuerzos 2 de 4" that consists of any 2 choices from 4 different categories of salads, pastas, appetizers and desserts (drink is not included with this offer).  There are several Pizza Hut restaurantes in Managua, Nicaragua: Metrocentro (in front of the cathedral), Metrocentro (food court), Plaza Inter (food court), Bello Horizonte, El Guanacaste (next to the Texaco) y Villa Fontana.  Here we were at the Metrocentro location, 100 mts. north of the roundabout.

Santa Fe

Fuimos a comer hace unos días a Santa Fe, un restaurante de estilo Tex-Mex en Managua, Nicaragua.  Tiene un ambiente agradable, buenas margaritas ($2.95) y unos chilaquiles ricos ($4.95).  El menú no es tan variado como me hubiera gustado.  De 1 a 10 daría un 6...si desea algo que se asemeja a tex-mex, es una opción decente.

A few days ago we went to eat at Santa Fe, a Tex-Mex restaurant in Managua, Nicaragua.  It has a nice ambience, good margaritas ($2.95) and some pretty good chilaquiles ($4.95).  There isn't as much variety on the menu as I would like.  From 1 to 10, it gets a 6...if you want something Tex-Mex, it's a decent option.

Here's a couple children from El Chilamate (close to Granada - tourism capital of Nicaragua) taking advantage of their own original form of transport.  The little girl takes the lead and the little boy enjoys being a passenger!

Barceló Managua

 

 

 

We spent a night at the (fairly new) Barceló Managua hotel.  It was a nice experience, worth repeating someday.  The price includes a buffet breakfast for two, which would cost about $10-12 per person at any hotel in the capital.

The hotel is comfortable although not luxurious by any means.  However, it is new and that makes everything more enjoyable.  We stayed on the sixth floor, wanting to see if it was earthquake proof :) and there was plenty of hot water.  The A/C worked perfectly as did the cable television.  The bathroom was incredibly well stocked with complimentary toiletries.  There are also fluffy robes provided.  The hotel is clean.  There is a Japanese restaurant, an international restaurant and a bar on site.  Also, there is a pool with a nice view of Managua and Lake Xolotlán.  On a 5 star scale, Hotel Barceló Managua gets a 3.5 (the extra 1/2 might wear off as the hotel loses it's newness).  You can check hotel prices by clicking here.

Pasamos una noche en el (relativamente nuevo) hotel Barceló Managua.  Fue una buena experiencia, para repetirse algún día.  El precio de la estadía incluye un buffet desayuno para dos, que costaría entre $10-12 en cualquiera de los hoteles capitalinos.

El hotel es cómodo aunque no lujoso.  Sin embargo, es nuevo y ese hecho contribuye a que sea muy agradable.  Nos quedamos en el sexto piso, queriendo poner a prueba lo anti-sísimico que es el hotel :) y hubo bastante agua caliente.  El aire condicionado funcionaba muy bien; igual la televisión por cable.  El baño estaba sorprendentemente bien surtido con artículos personales, complementos del hotel.  Había batas para nuestro uso.  El hotel está bastante limpio.  Hay un restaurante Japonese, un internacional y en bar.  También hay una buena piscina con un vistazo de Managua y el Lago Xolotlán.  De una a cinco estrellas, Hotel Barceló Managua recibe 3.5 (la media estrella se debe a lo nuevo del hotel...ojalá lo mantengan bien).  Podés ver los precios del hotel pinchando aquí.

Kenner and Jeffer

Saludá a Kenner y Jeffer, dos niños gemelos de Nicaragua.  Tienen 11 años de edad.  Uno es más amistoso que el otro, como suelen ser los gemelos.  Son de Caña de Castilla, Granada.

Say hi to Kenner and Jeffer, two young twin boys from Nicaragua.  They are 11 years old.  One is friendlier than the other, as is often the case with twins.  They live in Caña de Castilla, Granada.

Árbol Gato<<<<>>>>Cat Tree

In La Reforma, Masaya, Nicaragua, a family makes a living making pillows from the Cat Tree (that's what the locals call it).  As you can see, the tree produces some interesting by-products.  One of them is an tail-like object about the size of a big rabbit's foot.  The fluff is completely removed from those tail-like objects and later cleaned and stuffed into pillows to be sewn up.  After a few hours of direct sunlight, they are off to the market or the streets to be sold.

En La Reforma, Masaya, Nicaragua, una familia se gana la vida haciendo almohadas del árbol Gato (así lo llaman los habitantes de la zona).  Como podés ver, el árbol produce una cosecha interesante.  Uno de los objetos tienen el tomaño de una pata de conejo.  La cosa, parecida al algodón, se quita del rabito y se limpia y luego lo ocupan para llenar las almohadas.  Después de solearlas un rato, están listas para el mercado o la venta de la calle.
